Susan Townsend

Susan began her career in financial services shortly after graduating from Vanderbilt University. Her first foray into the investment field was as a management trainee for a large national bank. Within months, she accepted a newly created position as a Business Development Officer within the bank’s Trust Department. For decades, Susan worked with businesses, not-for-profits, and individuals. During this time, she excelled at discerning and meeting her clients’ individual and unique needs. In especially complex scenarios, Susan spearheaded new product offerings and initiatives to address and ensure her clients’ financial success and satisfaction.  

 

Susan was ultimately recruited by the nation’s largest private pension fund manager to assist in the building and formation of a Trust Company within their organization. Susan made the challenging and exciting career move to Manhattan as an Institutional Investment and Trust Consultant, and covered the territories of New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut. Throughout her career, her personal maxim has remained the same-to serve her clients well with integrity while meeting and exceeding their financial goals.  

 

Susan’s desire to join Commonwealth Capital Management was driven by her aspiration to address and meet her clients’ needs without the encumbrances encountered at large, corporate firms. CCM affords the expertise, experience, consummate professionalism, and nimbleness to address her clients’ unique and varied circumstances. As the firm is locally owned and the founder is actively involved in the day-to-day operation of CCM, she is assured that each client will get the attention and responsiveness they deserve.  

 

Susan enjoys a work/life balance by serving at her church, spending time with friends and family, and hiking with her two active Husky mixes, Yeti and Yogi. She was born and raised in South Carolina, and has lived in Nashville, Louisville, Los Angeles, and New York. She is happy to have settled in Louisville, Kentucky.
