About John Overfield, MBA
|
John’s lifelong passion has been to serve others, whether it be his family or others. His long standing presence in his community has been thoughtful and purposeful. John is originally from Columbus, Ohio where he grew up. He states, his claim to fame is living next door to the two-time Heisman trophy winner, Archie Griffin.
After attending the Ohio State University for his undergraduate degree in Business, he earned his MBA at the University of Dayton. John started out his career in marketing in one form or another, but most of his career (17 years), was for a fortune 500 company as a Marketing Director.
Throughout the years, John always felt as if he was a “closet analyst” as he enjoyed researching stocks and the market, while maintaining his own personal portfolios. After careful consideration in the marketing industry, John found his second calling and took a leap of faith to serve in a higher capacity when he entered the financial services industry as a financial advisor in 2012. This is where he felt he could put his skills to benefit others, by having wisdom and experience behind his practice. “Youth has its advantages, with energy and a fresh look on the future, but what comes with age is wisdom that can only be achieved with time.”
John, along with his wife Helen, are proud parents of three grown daughters and grandparents of two young grandsons. John is very family oriented, enjoying outings with the grandsons, family cook-outs and vacations. “Being a grandparent is like living your childhood all over again.” He and Helen enjoy entertaining, travel and attending community events.
John has now entered into another phase of his career. He has joined Commonwealth Capital Management, LLC an independent financial planning firm, which is one of Louisville Business First’s top ten largest planning firms in Louisville. John is looking forward to focusing more on quality versus quantity, limiting his clientele, to provide an excellent level of service.
